ACCESS Programe

This 4-month course leads you towards the mastery of computer use in all its aspects including programming and Internet Technology. The incorporation of Communicative Approach English syllabus is a significant feature of this program.

The curriculum consists of two main areas: Information Technology and English.

The successful completion of the course will earn the student 6 different certificates, two of which are awarded directly by our UK partners.

At the end of the four month programme students can select a path of his desire and further training will be provided on the selected paths. There are three paths to be selected.

The access Programme in designed to prepare students in IT and English from the basic.

It convinces prospective employers that you possess a recognized, relevant and up to date professional qualification.

It gives confident familiarity to technology and its usefulness while the student develops self-confidence to apply the technology and communication skills in computing and English fluently.

It effectively prepares the student to earn an equivalent to degree qualification or degree itself or to follow any other higher education courses in Sri Lanka or abroad.

It enables you to aim for more internationally recognized certificates.

Eg: ICDL, BTECH HND

It's a valuable qualification to gain entry to HND in Computing/BIT/SE in most of the colleges and Universities in the UK or elsewhere.

Concepts of Information Technology
  General Concepts, Computer System, Computer Networks, Health and Safety Environment, Computer Security.
Computer Maintenance and file Management
  Computer Environment Desktop Management, Viruses, Print Management Files, Disk Operating system [DOS]
Microsoft Office XP
  Ms Word, Ms Excel, Ms PowerPoint, Ms Access
Information and Communication
  The Internet Concepts and Terms, Web Navigation, Web Searching, Electronic Mail, Messaging, Mail Management
Website Designing
  HTML, Adobe PhotoShop CS, Macromedia Flash MX, Macromedia Dreamweaver MX
Computer Programming
  Programming Techniques, Microsoft Visual Basic.net with ADO.net, Java SDK1.5
Hardware Networking
 

Assessment

All the units are assessed by written examinations, practical test, or by assignment at the end of each module.

Entry Requirements

G C E (O/L) with 6 Passes or G C E (A/L)

  • Diploma in Hardware & Networking


Career Prospects

The successful completion of the course helps the students to continue their higher education here or abroad with lots of confidence. Particularly at BCAS, the students may be given special consideration on HND programmes. The students can also start their career with any software Development houses or IT related company or department at junior or middle level posts such as Webpage Designer, Junior Programmer, data Entry Operator, Hardware Technician etc.
