BCAS Convocation -2016
This year’s annual convocation of BCAS Campus was held on 30th November 2016 in two sessions at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre. The first session was hosted by BCAS Campus for their long standing UK collaborative partner University of Wolverhampton under the chairmanship of Abdur Rahman, Chairman and CEO of BCAS.
230 Bachelor’s degrees in Law, Bio-medical Science, Business Management,Law and MIT and Computing 135 Master’s degrees in Business Administration, Construction Project Management and LLM were awarded by the Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Geoff Layer.
With the VC a senior team of academics comprising Phillip Harris, Principal Lecturer and Head of International recruitment and Transnational Education, Dr Wayne Heaselgrave, Senior Lecturer, Biomedical Science and John Reynolds, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Science and Engineering were also present. Professor Kshanika Hirimburegama, the Dean of Academic Affairs and the staff of BCAS Campus and the board of governors of BCAS Campuswere present at the stage. The other VIPs who graced the occasion were Premila Paulraj, Assistant Vice President and Suriya Bibile, Territory Manager of Pearson UK, and members representing the Ministry of Higher Education, professional organizations and industry.
The second session of the convocation was a joint one with London South Bank University which is another collaborative partner from the UK. The Pro-vice Chancellor of the University Dr Paul Ivey presented BSc (Hons) degree in Commercial Management to 61 students. A further batch of 644 students who completed their Pearson’s BTEC HNDs in Quantity Surveying, Law, Business Management, Biomedical Science, IT Disciplines, Civil Engineering and Telecommunication Engineering received their awards, too.
Parents, siblings and friends of the recipients of awards were present attending the function to witness their sons and daughters, brothers and sisters and friends receiving their degree and HND awards.
